With Home Again Furniture Bank your team will be actively engaged and leave with a greater connection to their community.
Become a volunteer to help bring comfort and dignity to those in need
Home Again Furniture Bank is a nonprofit organization that collects gently-used furniture and gives it directly to individuals and families in need. With the help of teams like yours we have furnished hundreds of homes annually since our humble beginnings in 2015.
Central to Home Again is a cycle of giving and receiving that generates comfort, dignity and stability for our most vulnerable citizens. Your team can be a part of making a difference in their community and leaving a lasting impact that will be felt not just immediately but for generations. As we work to end furniture poverty in the Northeast Avalon your support will help neighbours build pride in their homes, self and community.
Below is a list of our most common frequently availed of opportunities but our Director of Development, Maureen Lymburner is happy to work directly with your organization to find a solution that suits your team.
When your workplace sponsors a Special Delivery Day, you’re having an immediate impact in our region by ensuring another 10+ households will be furnished.
With a sponsored Special Delivery Day your group of four to six team members can join Home Again for an amazing team building experience with a $500 sponsorship, or directly sponsor a delivery day with a $1,000 donation and our team will do the heavy lifting for you.
Often we have businesses who join us on a monthly basis, sending out new volunteer team members each time. One such volunteer from a corporate sponsored delivery day shared
“On a monthly basis, my coworkers and I have been volunteering a few hours of our time to pick up donated furniture and distribute these essential items to community members in need.
Being able to give back to the community that has been so warm to my family in this small way is wonderful. I am thankful to Schlumberger for allowing its employees the time and encouraging us to support our neighbours. The impacts of recent global events could, if we allow them, weaken our sense of community and it is wonderful to counter that through safe and positive acts of coming together simply to help.
In my short time working with Home Again Furniture Bank it seems clear to me that these small acts of kindness fill the hearts of the volunteers and donors as much as the tables, chairs and beds fill the rooms of those we set out to aid.”

One of our most fun ways to fundraise and get your team to come together and focus on giving back, is our Heads without Beds campaign.
During this fundraiser individual participants or teams raise funds and awareness among their networks to go one night without their bed so others in our region won’t have to.
Some businesses choose to have a group "sleep out" and others will have individuals sleep in their own homes but just forego their bed and sleep like how too many of our furniture recipients do, on the floor piled with just blankets to provide them comfort.
This humbling experience gives everyone the sad and unique understanding of how so many people in our region are living, all while raising awareness and funds for Home Again Furniture Bank.
Home Again also offers an opportunity for local business leaders to join us in October for a special Leaders Edition of Heads without Beds. Connect with Maureen Lymburner or click below to learn more.
